A former Oxford School pupil has been awarded an MBE for his services to the RAF.
Chief Technician Stephen Gleeson, 40, formerly of Crescent Road, Temple Cowley, received the award from the Queen at an investiture at Buckingham Palace, which he attended with his family.
As well as recognising his work teaching RAF engineers about the systems used in Chinook helicopters, the award also honoured his work for the Battle of Britain Historical Society, of which he is now chairman.
Mr Gleeson, who joined the RAF in 1978, now lives in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, but travels to Odiham in Hampshire, where he trains service engineers in the intricate systems of the Chinook.
