This year's headlines inspired villagers in Blewbury to put on home-made fancy dress for their traditional Boxing Day walk.
More than 160 children and adults took part in the event and the chairman of Blewbury Village Society, Judy Lloyd-Jones, presented awards to the winners.
The winner of the big team class (30 or more walkers) was the Cochrane family and friends, who dressed up as a ladies curling team -- with the men dressed in drag as the opposing team.
The small teams' class was won by the 10-member Expel -- an alternative new examinations' board.
Mrs Lloyd-Jones said: "There was a bucket collection for the Shelter charity for the homeless and for Kids at Play, which is raising money to provide a new children's play area next to Blewbury School."
Blewbury's Society's busy winter programme included a 1940s black tie ball with music by Jazz Alliance at the village hall, where the entrance was decked out as an air-raid shelter.
On Christmas Eve, 50 presents were handed out to children in the village.
