I was disappointed to read your editorial on the opening of the new park and ride at Water Eaton (Oxford Mail, December 11).
May I point out that the scheme has been constructed through some of the most adverse weather conditions in October and November on record.
For your information, the two-hour delay to the opening on December 10 was due to some minor health and safety issues. These were dealt with in an expedient manner and resolved prior to the opening launch at 10am.
With the project being predominantly an 'earthworks' scheme, the site being open at all this side of Christmas is a remarkable achievement, and all credit for this must go to the project team.
The team of Oxfordshire County Council, WS Atkins and the contractor Dean & Dyball Construction have worked extremely hard to achieve this to date, and this has only been met through the efforts of all the parties involved working together.
Some recognition of this would have been appreciated in your editorial. I feel that a conclusion has been drawn without all the facts being known.
I felt the editorial was demoralising for everyone who has had involvement in delivering the project.
I would just like to say very well done to all involved in opening this section of the works.
