An Abingdon man has been jailed for eight months for assaulting his ex-wife after she attacked him with a cheese grater.
James Nicholls, 38, admitted causing his former wife, Samantha, grievous bodily harm in a drunken argument on New Year's Eve.
The court heard the couple were divorced, but were living together at the time of the attack.
The prosecution accepted that 15-stone Nicholls, of Trinity Close, had been hit first with a ladle and a cheese grater by his partner.
Jailing Nicholls at Oxford Crown Court, Judge Bruce McIntyre also ordered him to pay £500 compensation.
