Abingdon's most colourful and entertaining river festival, the Dragon Boat races, has attracted 27 teams for May 11's event.
Boats race in last year's event
Paddlers in fancy dress will set off down the Thames in their decorated boats, from opposite Wilsham Road, to raise money for charity.
Leslie Cowan, of organisers the Abingdon Vesper Rotary Club, said: "The races benefit many charities.
"We provide a vehicle for others to raise funds for their favourite causes, and donate one-third of their sponsorship money to our nominated charity, the Maureen Ferguson Stroke Appeal. We hope to raise at least £54,000 for charity, of which £18,000 would go towards our chosen charity."
The Maureen Ferguson Stroke Appeal aims to raise £35,000 for the Stroke Association, to provide support for stroke victims of working age. Mrs Ferguson, a former president of the Abingdon Vesper Club, died at the age of 57 after a series of mini-strokes.
Racing starts at 10am, and the event also features stalls, a drinks tent and a fairground.
