A shelter to give young people in Grove a place to gather is set to be installed, despite neighbours' concerns.
A public meeting had been held to discuss the siting of the shelter after residents feared there would be increased noise and vandalism.
But Grove Parish Council, following advice from police, has decided the shelter should be sited on Mary Green for a trial period of six months.
A monitoring group of councillors, police and residents will be formed.
Council chairman Frank Parnell said: "We appreciate the concerns of residents, but we think the shelter should address the problems there so hopefully the situation will be made better, not worse.
"We're also going to keep a very close eye on the situation." The building has been funded by the Vale Community Safety Partnership as part of a drive to reduce anti-social behaviour in the village.
