Portfolio holders on the executive board of Oxford City Council have been told they can keep their jobs for the next 12 months.

The decision to continue with the same 10 councillors in the key posts was taken at the Labour group's annual meeting on May 8.

Alex Hollingsworth, the leader of the council, who is chairman of the executive, said: "The current post-holders are all quite happy and will keep the same jobs.

"There is always the opportunity for change during the next 12 months, provided everyone knows where their responsibilities lie."

Mr Hollingsworth added that Rick Muir had taken over from Pat Stannard on the finance scrutiny committee.

The Labour group appointed its executive board shortly after it regained control of the town hall at the local elections in May last year.

Unlike the Liberal Democrat-Green alliance which previously ran the council, the Labour group decided not to allow opposition members to hold any places on the board.

John Goddard, the leader of the council's Liberal Democrat group, said: "The Labour group clearly don't want opposition members on the board and that's up to them.

"Some of them have done a better job than others, but when they shuffle their pack is up to them.

"I'm more concerned about improvements to services rather than personalities."
