A retired couple claim vibration from heavy traffic on one of Oxford's main roads is making their house fall apart.
Jane and Ken Meadows, who live in Cowley Road, say cracks have appeared in kitchen tiles and exterior masonry because lorries and buses cause their home to shake.
Doors and windows of the house they have owned for more than 30 years rattle every time vehicles pass.
Mrs Meadows said the problem had become steadily worse since houses were built at Gillians Way, on Cowley Marsh, more than a decade ago.
She said they were asking city councillors to help because they did not know who else to turn to.
Mrs Meadows added: "The pebble-dashing is beginning to crack because of the speed the lorries travel at."
Mr Meadows told the Cowley area committee the road surface was atrocious. He said: "It's all humps and bumps.
"Lorries come past at night and the house shakes.
"The whole house is on the move. It's scary.
"Five or six buses go by, one behind the other, doing about 40mph."
Pc Chris Griffin, representing Thames Valley Police at the meeting, said he would ask the force's traffic management department to consider installing a mobile speed camera near the house to slow traffic.
Another resident who attended the meeting, Rick Stephenson, warned that a camera would do nothing to fix the house if it was already damaged.
Temple Cowley division county councillor Biddy Hudson has agreed to investigate the problem on behalf of Mr and Mrs Meadows.
