The Airey Cup got under way, and there was a shock for Witney Swifts who lost to Division 2 side Horley.

Swifts took advantage of the new fielding restrictions to get off to a flier, Omar Hussain top-scoring with 51.

But they collapsed to 111 all out as Keith Palmer took 3-17.

Horley took their time knocking off the runs, taking 42 overs before reaching their target, Alan Williams taking 3-32 for Swifts.

Chris Swain (62) and Neil Wilkins (49) used the restrictions well as holders Westbury cruised to a six-wicket victory over Charlbury, Westbury easily passing their victory target of 164.

In the Telegraph Cup, Bill Bowman (49no) and Charlie Yates (35no) steered Minster Lovell to an easy nine-wicket victory over Combe.

James Elsmore had taken 5-26 for Minster, who then reached the target of 104.

Fringford edged into round two with a 12-run victory over West Witney.

Skipper Damian Leach (60) helped Fringford to 147, and in reply, West Witney were dismissed for 135.

New boys Kilkenny were blitzed by 257 runs by Hanney in the Steve Dixon Cup.

Ron Jones (87), Dave Belprez (66) and Dale Lambie (75no) powered Hanney to a formidable 314-5, then Kilkenny were skittled for 57.

Simon Burns and Sajjad Razzaq took the first five wickets as Yarnton were crushed by nine wickets by Wolvercote.

Yarnton were dismissed for just 51, then Wolvercote opener Martin Kalyan hit 40 not out as his team cruised in.

In Division 1, Oxford Caribbean recorded their first win with a 106-run victory over Brill.

The batting of Eddie Howard (55) and Dave Prosper (37) and the bowling of George Stevens (6-16) saw Caribbean to victory.

Great Horwood beat Garsington by six wickets.

Richard Wakefield (47) steered Garsington to 161, but Gary Lee's unbeaten 77 saw Horwood home.

Tetsworth overcame Freeland by 54 runs.

Jeffrey Rodgers (36no) and Rasheda Cyrus (32) saw Tetsworth reach 150, and in reply, Astra Franklin bagged 5-30 as Freeland were skittled for 94.

In Division 3, Paul King hit 102 for Hailey in their 40-run victory over Uffington.

East & West Hendred proved too good for Westcott in Division 4.

Ivan Mulford (86) and Julian Hitchman (41) put Hendred in command as they reached 220-6.

In reply, Westcott were immediately on the back foot thanks to two early wickets from Matty Turner (3-38). Although Peter and Philip Smith (49 and 30) steadied the ship, Westcott were bowled out for 174.

In Division 7, 15-year-old Shaun Cross took 4-10 as Minster Lovell 2nd beat Combe 2nd by eight wickets.

Mathew Ashton was the star for Minster's new third team as they recorded a 14-run victory over Uffington 2nd in Division 9. He hit 42 in Minster's 161-8, then took 3-29 as Uffington were dismissed for 147.
