Despite recording handsome 24-15 victory over Shropshire at Cowley Community Centre, Oxfordshire just missed out on promotion from Division 4 of the Inter-Country Darts Championship.
Although Oxon put on a good display with a high standard of darts all weekend, they had left themselves too much to do and missed out by a mere seven points.
However, there was success for the Oxon Men's A team, who excelled in winning their section.
Oxon Ladies B got the home county off to a good start with a 4-2 win, the lady of the match being Chris Young with a 15.95 average.
This was followed by an 8-4 win from the Oxon Men's B, who were inspired by a brilliant display from Ronnie Anderson, who starred a brilliant 30.67 average.
So Oxon went into Sunday's action with a with a 12-6 lead.
This was reduced when Shropshire Ladies A recorded a 4-2 victory, even though Oxon's Paulette Guy recorded 20.59.
The Oxon Men's A team, needing a win to guarantee winning their section, got home 7-5, led by man-of-the-match Jon Jukes, with an average of 28.90.
