Oxford Silver Machine promoter Nigel Wagstaff is considering signing Reading's Phil Morris to boost his Elite League squad.
Morris is sidelined with an injured shoulder, but if he joined Oxford, he would continue riding for Reading in the Premier League.
Wagstaff said: "Once he is fit, I will look at my options and may bring him into the squad."
Oxford's promoter yesterday announced that out-of-sorts Jernej Kolenko had been axed, and that he would be replaced by a further 'doubling up' duo of Premier League riders Niels Kristian Iversen and Steve Masters.
And Wagstaff says more signings may be in the pipeline as he seeks to bolster the bottom end of the team.
Also on the cards is a switch of race nights for British League Cup fixtures because of unavailability of riders.
Matches may take place on Wednesdays with Fridays becoming a regular race night for Oxford's Conference League side.
They were due to race at home for the first time this season against Mildenhall in the Knockout Cup on Friday night, but heavy rain washed out the clash.
