A tired and sorry Oxford Bulls came away from London in miserable mood after a 16-1 ice hockey mauling at Streatham Chiefs.
Although The Chiefs are one of the favorites for the Summer Cup, the easy way they brushed aside the Bulls was worrying for Oxford's management.
Streatham's Mike Lambert notched an impressive 4+3, with Stuart McIntosh and Joe Johnson weighing in with hat-tricks.
Oxford's solitary goal was scored by Canadian Phil Sauv. Their player of the match was goalie Richard Stone, who faced a barrage of 78 shots during the game.
Oxford could not keep up with the Chiefs, who train three times a week and are assisted by both the Ice Rink in Streatham and Guildford Ice Rink, who host sessions and matches for the Londoners.
In contrast, Oxford are still in limbo with ice time.
The Bulls still have not been given any indication as to whether they will be able to host matches or even train at Oxpens Road as the ice is still unsafe.
Bulls spokesman James Schall said: "We've been unable to train on ice for six weeks now and it's starting to show with our fitness.
"We are trying to take the competition as professionally as the other teams, but we're a side issue for the Oxford rink. They've no real need to accommodate us as we don't financially benefit them, and there's no real impetus to fix the ice quickly."
