Russell Humphrey, of Didcot, won the third round of the Castle Combe saloon car championship in his Vauxhall Astra SRi to take the lead in Class A.
The 1998 champion is driving a current Vauxhall Astra SRi hatchback, which he believes to be the first privately-built race model in the UK.
The car, built by Interceptor Racing of Didcot, of which Humphrey is manager, belongs to title sponsor Mark Richard Insurance and is sponsored by Peter Ledbury Ltd of Wantage and Total Suisse Tooling of Grove.
Another local driver who scored a success at the meeting was Chris Axford, of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, who increased his lead in the BRSCC Castle Combe Formula Ford 1600 Championship after winning the third round.
Axford, driving a Swift SC92 for Kevin Mills Racing, moved to the head of the field on the first lap from fourth on the grid, and kept the lead until the chequered flag.
He has so far netted one second and two first places this season, and leads the championship by five points from teammate Paul Barnes.
