We share the concern and annoyance of residents of Woodstock Road, Witney, following drunken misbehaviour by a group of young people early on Wednesday (Oxford Mail, May 15).
We are assisting the police in identifying the people involved. Our investigations suggest that false names were supplied to the police by at least some of the offenders.
As you reported, both schools had held their year 11 Proms on Tuesday evening. More than 300 students and staff enjoyed orderly and alcohol-free events which ended shortly after 11pm.
While we never shirk our responsibilities for the behaviour and welfare of students while in our care, are we to be held accountable, as your article implied, for drunken misbehaviour dealt with by the police several hours after students went home from the Proms?
Inquiries might be better directed to any adult who permitted an excess of alcohol at a post-Prom party early on Wednesday.
