People are being given the chance to see the Chilterns' most famous residents in all their glory over the next few weeks.

The red kites, introduced in 1990 and thriving, are at their most active now.

But once the young birds have fledged, the parents go into moult and will not be be seen as often.

Red Kites in the Chilterns project officer Cathy Rose said: "This is the best time to see them, so we have organised a cycle ride and several walks for people to get a good look at these magnificent birds."

On Sunday there is a 13-mile cycle ride, starting from Cowleaze Wood, above Chinnor. Call 01844 351947 to book.

Walks include a family walk on Aston Rowant nature reserve on Sunday, from 10am until noon, and a four-mile circular walk in the Hambleden Valley on Sunday, June 1, with walkers meeting at Mill End car park at 10.45am.

Other event include a walk at the Litmore Shaw nature reserve at Ibstone at 2pm on Tuesday, June 3, a four-mile walk around Fawley meeting at the Walnut Tree pub at 10am on Thursday, June 5, and a similar walk around Northend on Sunday, June 8, at 10am at Northend Common.
