Wallingford residents are being called upon to attend a public meeting to help decide the future of the town's hospital.
Mayor-elect Betty Atkins is asking people to make their views known to health officials at the meeting, in the Regal Centre on Wednesday, May 28, at 7pm.
The meeting has been called by South East Oxfordshire NHS Primary Care Trust.
Mrs Atkins said: "I do not think there is any fear at the moment of the hospital closing. But there is every possibility that it might lose some of its services, like the minor injuries unit."
"They must know we will fight tooth and nail to keep it and the extra services it provides."
The trust has asked South Oxfordshire District Council to let it sell the site for housing, while a new hospital is built on an adjacent paddock. But the plans do not include the maternity unit.
Trust chairman Canon Tony Williamson, who will be at the public meeting, has told the town council the trust will work with it to provide the best services it can.
He said there were no plans to close the hospital.
