Two rare electric buses, which have been kept in Banbury, have been given to an Oxfordshire museum.
The dual-power buses, which have both electric and diesel engines, were never used in the town, but were stored for several years at the Stagecoach depot in Canal Street.
Now they are on display at the Oxford Bus Museum, at Long Hanborough, near Witney.
The buses, which are still in good condition, were made in Italy in 1983 and imported for use in Exeter.
They were also used in Portsmouth and Southampton before being road-tested in Oxford.
The diesel engine was a back-up power source that should have been able to recharge the vehicle's batteries 'on the move'.
But design faults meant the buses could only cover 20 miles before needing a full recharge, so they were never introduced in Oxfordshire.
