Teenagers are calling on councillors to provide a skate park in Abingdon to avoid the dangers of using roads and car parks -- and the anger of annoyed or abusive adults.
A petition signed by 200 people was presented at the Vale of White Horse District Council's annual meeting.
Six teenagers presented the petition at the meeting to Abingdon Dunmore councillor Janet Morgan, who praised them for their initiative.
She said they were prepared to work with the council to find a location and help design a skate park.
Mrs Morgan said: "They have nowhere to go and are prohibited from public places. The impression is that many youths cause a nuisance, but they are responsible people who get shouted and sometimes sworn at by adults."
Campaign organiser JonothonWyborn, 13, of Alexander Close, Abingdon, said: "There is a BMX track off Radley Road but that is not suitable, and some of us have been threatened by older youths.
"There are facilities in Grove and Oxford but these are difficult to get to."
Gareth Thomas, 15, from Milton, said there was a very large following of skateboarders were forced to use roads, car parks and pavements.
He said: "An area set aside at Tilsley Park with proper ramps would be ideal."
The issue will be discussed by the council's executive at its next meeting.
