Rain washed out the first day of Oxfordshire's opening Minor Counties Championship game with Berkshire at Falkland CC.

A downpour towards the end of the host club's league game the previous evening soaked the wicket before the covers could be put on.

Yesterday's play was scheduled to start around 2.30pm, but another heavy shower ended all hopes of any cricket.

Oxon made a late change to their team after Oxford seamer Philip Evans dropped out with a damaged ankle sustained in his first over in the Home Counties Premier League match against Henley on Saturday.

He was replaced by young Banbury spinner Jimmy Phillips.
