A teenage girl fought off a man who attempted to abduct her in broad daylight in Oxford on Saturday.
The girl, aged 14, was pestered by the man on a bus, believed to be a No. 5 travelling from the Plain to Blackbird Leys.
He touched her knee against her will, and she decided to get off the bus before her stop.
He followed her from the bus stop, near the Swan pub on the corner of Cowley Road and Between Towns Road, before 2.10pm on Saturday, and attempted to talk to her.
Near St Luke's Road, he grabbed her hand tightly and tried to force her into an alley. She fought him off and when she told him she had seen her mother approaching, he walked away.
Det Insp Dermot Norridge said: "There would have been a lot of people around at the time and we want them to come forward if they saw anything."
The man was Asian, in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 4ins, of stocky build, with short black hair which might have been shaven.
He had a distinctive red scratch on his right cheek and wore a leather jacket.
