Female motorists are being urged to show off their skills at a driving event near Bicester, and raise money for charity.

Men and women will be able to test their motoring skills against each other by taking part in a Battle of the Sexes driving challenge.

The event, which started life as a womens' driving challenge six years ago, will be held at Heyford Park, the former US Air Force base at Upper Heyford, near Bicester, on June 8.

The event -- to raise money for the cancer charity Marie Curie -- will also give participants the chance to drive a variety of vehicles, including JCBs, buses, Army trucks, a combine harvester and a rally car.

Val Pearce, community fundraising manager for Marie Curie, said: "We know from previous years that people who support the charity event have real drive.

"They turn up year after year and raise phenomenal amounts of sponsorship."

Since the event was launched in 1998 more than £200,000 has been raised for the cancer charity.
