Oxford United striker Jefferson Louis has been transfer-listed.

Jefferson LouisThe 24-year-old shot to national stardom when he scored the winning goal against Swindon in the televised FA Cup second-round clash in December, and was seen dancing around with just a towel covering his modesty when the U's were drawn against Arsenal in the third round.

But the forward struggled to hold down a first-team place towards the end of the season, and has been told he can find a new club by United boss Ian Atkins.

Louis joined the U's from Thame United, and was handed a professional contract after impressing in several reserve and first-team games.

He shot to prominence when scoring the crucial spot-kick as Oxford stunned Premiership side Charlton in this season's Worthington Cup

But he really hit the headlines when scoring to give United a famous FA Cup victory over their Wiltshire rivals.

However, despite appearing as a substitute at Highbury in the third-round clash, Louis' form dipped.

Atkins is hoping that by circulating his names to other clubs, Louis can revive his career.

"His name will be circulated and it may now give him the kick up the backside he needs," Atkins said.

"I don't think he's done himself justice since Christmas. It may have been the publicity, because he's only a young lad, but he'll be disappointed with himself, I think, in training and things like that."
