A £45,000 play area created by volunteers was unveiled in Blewbury, near Didcot, on June 1.
Children celebrate the opening of the site
The new play equipment was designed on a ship theme.
Previously, they had to cross the busy A417 to reach a recreation ground.
Funding for the area came from parish and district councils, the Home Office, sponsored events and donations.
Voluntary group Blewbury Kids at Play began designing the playground 18 months ago to provide a safe site in the village.
Group spokesman Anita Prosser praised the volunteers' achievement, and said it meant children would no longer need to be accompanied across the main road by an adult.
