Banbury racer Adam Derbyshire's run of victories in the Radical Enduro Championship came to an end at the weekend when he took a second place and a non-finish at Silverstone.
The Spirit Volkswagen-backed driver settled for second place in race one on Saturday, following IN2RACING teammates Neil Riddiford and Nick Dudfield over the line by under a second after a hard fight.
Derbyshire said: "They gained 12 seconds or more on me at the pit-stop as I have to do a mandatory 25-second stop for driving by myself.
"I managed to catch Nick up, but it would have taken a big lunge to get past and I didn't want to put either of us at risk."
A front-row start in race two on Sunday saw Derbyshire drop back to fourth at the first corner as the SR3 machines dominated the race.
After passing Riddiford, he moved into the lead where he had a good battle with ex- Grand Prix racer, Martin Donnelly, before making a scheduled stop.
However, his race ended in the pits when an electrical problem, which would have caused the battery to go flat in a couple of corners, was discovered after the car failed to start properly.
He said: "It is a little disappointing obviously, especially as I had started getting used to winning."
Although Derbyshire still leads the series comfortably, he misses the next two races as he is in the USA to watch Darren Manning compete in the Champ Car series.
Derbyshire resumes his Radical campaign in July with a four-race session at Pembrey in South Wales.
