Home Counties Premier League: Former England left-arm seamer Paul Taylor is battling to shrug of a back injury as Banbury visit Slough in Division 1 on Saturday (June 7).

The ex-Northants paceman bowled just two overs before Banbury chased 305 to post an unlikely five-wicket win over reigning champions High Wycombe last Saturday.

He was due to undergo a scan yesterday as well as seeing a chiropractor.

"Paul is not the sort of person who will risk it if it is not right," said skipper Craig Haupt, who has his nephew, Dale - also a left-arm quickie - on stand-by to make his Home Counties debut.

Banbury's captain is also a slight doubt after aggravating a knee injury during last week's game, but expects to play.

Looking back on the victory over High Wycombe, Haupt said: "It was absolutely fantastic.

"I think a lot of people were pointing fingers at me when I said at the start of the season that we could beat any side in the league, but we proved that on Saturday."

Henley will be looking for a greater contribution from their middle order batsmen when they visit Basingstoke.

Mick Hilditch's side seemed on course for victory over Radlett last week after Mark Bredell hammered 101 and Chris Ellison smashed 89, but the rest of the side caved in and they were forced to hang on for a draw.

All-rounder Graham Charlesworth is unavailable for Oxford's clash with leaders Reading at St Catherine's College, Marston.

The Oxford University coach is on duty with the Oxford UCCE side as they visit Cambridge for a two-day match this weekend.

Robbie Eason returns after missing last week's five-wicket defeat at Beaconsfield - Oxford's first loss for 35 games and two years - but Ross Buchanan retains the wicket-keeper's gloves.

Seamers David Angove (side strain) and Philip Evans (ankle) are still sidelined, and batsman Pat Jobson remains unavailable.

In Division 2 West, seamer Lee Mason and James Holton return for Bicester & North Oxford's home game against Division 2 West leaders Finchampstead.

Masons was at a wedding and Holton was studying for exams as Bicester drew with Milton Keynes Park last weekend. They come in for Mike Simpson and Gary Sansome.

Skipper Darryl Woods is confident his side can give the table-toppers a good run for their money.

Batsman Jarrad Andrew, one of the heroes of Thame Town's first league win as they beat Tring Park last week, is moving house and misses the home game against Milton Keynes Park. Sam Lachlan returns after taking exams last week, while James Hewitt replaces Ricky Butt
