At Headington Baptist Church in Oxford, we want to be good neighbours.
Could I therefore correct a subtle misquotation in your report (Oxford Mail, June 2) about our proposed new building?
I am quoted as saying: "If we had known that the design had to fit in with an 18th or 19th century village scene . . . ."
We knew that the area was special and a new church must fit in.
This has been a top priority for us. We think the new building does fit or we would not be going ahead with it.
That is why our architect conducted an analysis of the area and created a model, so that he could ensure that what he designed would work in its location.
The images you published, though not showing the texture of the stone finish, illustrate how our proposal will replace a drab building with something elegant and beautifully in proportion.
