Cash machine customers are being warned to be on their guard, after a series of distraction thefts at banks in the county.

Fraudsters, working in pairs or in a small group, distract people using cashpoint machines, taking their card and 'skimming' the details.

One will often ask the customer if they have dropped a £10 note, and an accomplice will take the victim's card while they are distracted.

The thieves will then use the stolen card to withdraw money from another cashpoint machine, often in another town or city.

In the most recent incident, a man distracted a woman at Barclays, in Thame's High Street, on May 20, at about 9.30am.

The man was 6ft, white, with a dark complexion, and aged between 30 and 35.
