Staff at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital were offered the chance to fight back against bicycle thieves on June 9.
John MacIntyre fits the security tag to bikes outside the JR
John MacIntyre, of security firm Mac's Associates Ltd, fitted bikes at the JR with electronic identity tags.
The tags fit inside the seat post and, once inserted, cannot be removed.
He said the tags would help to ensure that the 1,600 bikes stolen each year in Oxford would be returned to their owners.
Mr MacIntyre said: "These tags offer more protection to bike owners. It will also mean that a bike is less likely to be stolen."
The tags are available on www.stoptheft.co.uk
