Two big guns crashed out of the Bernard Tollet Oxfordshire Cup first round on Tuesday.

Home Counties Premier League Division 2 West side Bicester & North Oxford were undone by Cherwell League Kidlington, while Banbury lost a last-over thriller to Thame.

Andy Buckingham (53) top-scored in holders Kidlington's 113-7, Lee Mason returning 4-26, and Bicester rarely looked like overhauling the target as they were pegged back by Richard Wylie, whose five overs brought him two wickets for only nine runs.

Bicester closed on 81-7, leaving the holders 32-run winners. They are now away to either Oxford Caribbean or Aston Rowant, who play tomorrow.

Banbury must have been confident when they rattled up 141-8 from their 20 overs against Thame.

Steve Beck (67) and Craig Haupt (46) led the way, while left-arm spinner Rakesh Dhruve returned 5-40.

Opener Manoj Parmar led Thame's reply with 80 and Chris Clark and James Hewitt kept cool in the final three overs to see their side home by four wickets with two balls to spare.

Thame now face Oxford & Horspath, who saw off Sandford St Martin by 32 runs.

Keith Mustow (65) and Johnny Nambiar (41) saw Oxford to 145-5, Ian Johnson returning excellent figures of 5-15. Sandford replied with 113-7.

Highest scorers of the night were Challow and Childrey, who hammered 176-6 to beat Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts by 42 runs.

Not far behind were Kingston Bagpuize, 111-run winners over Abingdon Vale.

The in-form Martin Shepherd (70) and Andy Howard (57) starred in Kingston's 174-5 and then Will Rautenback (4-27) and Richard Giles (3-5) sent Abingdon tumbling to 63 in 16 overs.

Steve Clayton was the hero for Great & Little Tew against Morris Motors.

Chasing Motors' total of 112-8, in which Steve Murrey took 4-32, Tew got home by four wickets with one ball to spare, Clayton finishing with 60 not out.

Shipton-under-Wych- wood beat fellow Cherwell Leaguers Banbury Twenty by four wickets.

Set a target of 132-4, Shipton got home with five balls left, Shaun Miller making an unbeaten 38.
