Organisations and charities from across Bicester benefited from town council grants totalling almost £10,000.

Mayor Norman Bolster presented cheques for between £100 and £750 to 29 groups at a ceremony in the council chamber.

The awards included £750 for Carer Support Services (Bicester), £500 for Bicester Choral and Operatic Society and £500 for Bicester Community Church.

The presentation took place at Bicester Town Council's chamber, The Garth Launton Road, on Monday evening.

Groups who were received a boost were: 6th Bicester Brownies £100, Bicester Allotment Association £100, Bicester Choral and Operatic Society £500, Slade Farm United £130, Bicester and District Talking Newspaper Association £250, EDAC garden project £500, BACEC £100, Glory Farm Primary School £350, Otmoor Trefoil Guild £100, Bicester Under Fives and Families £200, Southwold Primary School £500, Brookside Primary School £400, 1st Bicester Intrepid Scout Group £300, Bicester Community Church £500, 1st and 2nd Step Pre-School £150, Jack and Jill Pre-School £150, St John's Ambulance £400, Chill £300, Carer Support Services (Bicester) £750, BUFF £200, Bicester and District Gym Club £300, United Karate Association £250, Courtyard Youth Arts Centre management committee £250, Courtyard Youth sub committee £200, Bicester citizens Advice Bureau £600, Kings Meadow Playscheme £350, Bicester and District Twinning Association £800.

Two groups at Bicester Community College received cheques for £500 and £300.
