The Garsington Opera season opens on June 14 for the first of 20 open-air performances. The season is a sell-out, so if you haven't booked yet, you need to look out for returns.
This year brings three comedy operas to the stage, set on a terrace adjoining Garsington Manor and its beautiful gardens.
The programme includes Richard Strauss's Die Schweigsame Frau, based on Ben Jonson's play The Silent Woman. It features Christine Buffle as Aminta, a woman running a noisy theatre group who is put forward as a prospective wife for an old curmudgeon searching for someone altogether quieter.
The season, also featuring Rossini's Il Barbiere Di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) and Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera (The Pretended Gardener), runs until July 12.
