Chris Axford continues to the lead the National Mobile Windscreens Castle Combe Formula Ford 1600 Championship after winning the second of two races at the Wiltshire circuit.
Axford, from Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, managed only fifth place in the first race when he spun off. However, in the second race Axford forced his way to the front from the third row on the grid, taking the fastest lap in the process.
Gary Marsh
Axford has won three of the five rounds to lead the championship by four points from teammate Paul Barnes, with four rounds to go.
Gary Marsh, of Eynsham, won Class B in both races with fourth and second overall to increase his lead in the Alchemede Design Consultants pre-1990 cars category. Marsh, who qualified third overall, is still searching for the budget to complete the season.
The next meeting at the circuit, on June 21/22 will feature rounds of the British F3 and GT championships, and a Formula Ford 1600 Trophy race.
