Littlemore Community Centre has reopened after a major refurbishment.
The centre in Giles Road, Littlemore, Oxford, has undergone more than £150,000 of work since last June to bring in more modern facilities.
The Rose Hill and Littlemore Sure Start project has funded most of the development, with Oxfordshire Community Foundation donating a further £5,000 to buy equipment.
The newly extended building offers purpose-built play facilities for children under four.
The extension has been named The Sunflower Room by local residents.
The rest of the centre has been refurbished to include a new kitchen and computer equipment for use by the community.
The extension was officially opened by deputy Lord Mayor Gill Sanders.
She said: "I wish Littlemore Community Centre every success. The new facilities are a tremendous asset for the whole community and a fantastic resource for local children."
More than 300 people attended a launch party. Children were entertained by a magic show, a bouncy slide, music and dancing as well as storytelling, while older party-goers tried out the new computers.
Parent Dawn Jeffs, who attended the re-opening, said: "It was great to see so many people brought together. The new extension is brilliant. Littlemore has needed something like this for a long time."
Tan Lea, director of Rose Hill's Sure Start project, said: "Sure Start works in partnership with local people, organisations and community groups to give children the best start in life. This launch is the result of many years' hard work and dedication by local people."
