Schoolchildren's imaginations and language skills were given free rein during a writing week at a primary school in Carterton.
Husband and wife David and Ronda Armitage came to work with them in a workshop devoted to creating a story around a picture.
The two have written and illustrated many children's books, including The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch.
Charlbury writer and musician Alan Fraser and Oxford Mail reporter Suzanne Huband also visited.
Nadine Lewis, school literacy co-ordinator, said: "The week was aimed at our younger children, aged four to seven, to encourage them to write. We want them to be inspired."
