Three Horseshoes A marked their debut in Section 1 of the Greene King ODDA Summer League by beating Rowing Machine 6-3.
Bob Boyce, Mark Kermack (180) and Alan Jarvey gave Shoes a 3-1 lead, only for Machine to draw level. The Shoes then stormed back with a 3-0 pairs win for a fine 6-3 victory.
A similar 3-0 pairs win gave Kings Arms a 6-3 win over Section 3 rivals Red Lion.
Section 4's Morris Motors Social Club continued their good start to the season with a battling 6-3 win at Punch Bowl, Abingdon, coming from two down after Young and Dodson got the home side off to a flier. Motors pulled one back when Bob Harwood beat Johnson, but Punch Bowl restored their lead to 3-1 with a fine win from Smith.
Morris Motors stormed back with wins from Peter Rouse and Alan Cox to level it at 3-3, and they continued their fightback in the pairs when a 3-0 success.
Premier side Quarry Gate C won 5-4 at Cherwell Club in Ladies Section 1, despite losing the pairs 2-1.
Their wins came from Jo Gleed, Janet Clarke, Hazel Drennan and Linda Howe with Lambert beating Pat Newman despite the Cherwell player hitting a maximum 180.
