Members of the Oxford Welsh Male Voice Choir are planning to return to the valleys -- and will perform along the way to raise money for two children's hospices.
The choir plan to mark their 75th anniversary with a week-long walk from Oxford to Risca in Wales, and will perform at six concerts to raise money for the music rooms at two specially adapted children's hospices -- Douglas House in Oxford, and Ty Hafan, near Risca, the only young person's respite care centre in Wales.
The 'Thames to the Taff' walk will leave the grounds of Christ Church, Oxford, on July 5, and will finish at the Oxford House in Risca, a Welsh mining town.
During the 1930s, Oxford residents sent money and aid to the mining community in Risca.
The choir will perform at The Romany Inn in Bampton, and at other venues in Cricklade in Wiltshire, Tetbury in Gloucestershire, Thornbury in Avon, Caldicott in Monmouthshire, and the Crosskeys College Auditorium in Risca.
A thanksgiving lunchtime concert will be held on July 13, at the United Reformed City Church in Cardiff.
