JAVELIN thrower Lucy Boggis spearheaded a record-breaking day's action at the Oxfordshire Schools' Track and Field Championships at Tilsley Park, Abingdon.
Boggis led the way with the outstanding field performance last Sunday as ten championships bests were recorded.
The teenager from Cokethorpe School, Witney broke Clare Lacey's junior girls' record of 34.14m set in 1989 with a throw of 35.54.
Wheatley Park's Andrew Tippet produced the outstanding performance on the track, breaking his own record set last year for the intermediate boys' 400m hurdles.
He sliced 2.4secs of his time of 12 months ago as he sped to victory in 56.0secs.
Records abounded in the excellent conditions, with Claire Triggs equalling both the best times for the junior girls' 100m and 200m, with 12.5 and 25.5 respectively.
Molly Russell (Cheney, Oxford) clipped a tenth of the 100m record as she stormed home in 12.4, and Natalie Plateau (Oxford High) shaved three-tenths of the 400m mark with 56.9.
Wheatley Park's Lucy Sutton set a record in the senior girls' shot with 11.41, and Rachel Brenton (Larkmead, Abingdon) leapt to a new best of 11.91 in the triple jump.
In the intermediate boys' events, Aaron Teall (John Mason, Abingdon) stormed to victory in the 400m in a record-breaking 50.7.
In the junior boys' age group, Cheney's Martin Klucniks set a new hammer best with a throw of 44.66, shattering the record of 33.22.
