Documents stolen from an Oxford bereavement group could be used by conmen for bogus door-to-door collections, trustees fear.

A van belonging to the Matthew Roberts Memorial Fund was broken into in Lambourn Road, Rose Hill.

Leaflets, press cuttings and 700 pens with Children Support Team on the side were taken.

The fund was set up by Mark Roberts, 58, and his wife Sarah, 27, following the death of their 20-month-old son Matthew, who drowned in the bath.

The couple are concerned the thieves may pose as bogus officials.

Mr Roberts said: "It's a major setback, but we will keep going." The trust is on call 24 hours a day, on 0800 0159779, to support grieving adults and children.

The theft took place on June 19, between 8pm and 9pm.
