Cherwell League Div 1: Banbury Twenty made up ground on Division 1 leaders Aston Rowant following a resounding eight-wicket win at Dinton.

After choosing to bat, the home team were reduced to 117-5 after a good start, but collapsed to 134 all out against the left-arm spin of Steve Hart, who took 5-22.

Opener John Purcell, who was last out for 53, provided the main resistance.

Dave Burbidge (45) got Twenty off to a good start before Pat Robinson (48no) and Dave Clark (32no) eased them home.

Dinton 7, Banbury Twenty 30

A second-wicket stand of 156 between skipper Paul Hemming (114) and Simon Hole (73) enabled Shipton-under-Wychwood to declare on 276-4 at Challow & Childrey.

Challow responded positively through Neil Podbery (85) and Ashley Holznagel (45), but were hampered by the wiles of all-rounder Hemming (5-57) and had to settle for the draw at 208-8.

Aston Rowant found Buckingham a difficult nut to crack as the home side amassed 263-7, Bryn Jones, Anthony Romaine and Chris Dalkin all recording half- centuries.

Chris Eaton led Rowant's reply with an unbeaten 91, but the visitors ran out of steam and held on at 206-7 for the draw.

Bourton Vale stuck Oxford Downs in to bat, with Richard Howell (4-38) and Paul Lazenbury (4-17) restricting them to 194 despite a fighting 64 from Luke List.

Bourton skipper Philip Hawtrey (77) led Bourton to 195-5, with 11 overs in hand.

Kimble's poor run continued, this time against the spin of Sandford St Martin's Dean Border (6-35) as they were hustled out for just 110 in 42 overs. Ali Russel top-scored with 47 before Sandford claimed the win for the loss of three wickets.
