Police dispersed about a crowd of about 200 people at an illegal rave in west Oxfordshire on June 21.
Residents in Bampton and Clanfield called police when they noticed a number of vehicles converging on woodland near the River Thames from 10.45pm.
Police blocked the approaches and reinforcements were called in before they seized sound systems and began to disperse party-goers.
Supt John Liversidge, head of the Northern Oxfordshire Police Area, said: "People hoping to attend this illegal rave were apparently given directions on the Internet.
"People in the area became alarmed by all the activity.
"Our aim was to bring together enough officers to ensure that the people who reached the site, and others attempting to get there, were dispersed quickly. Some raves have gone on for 24 hours."
Two women were arrested for allegedly spitting at police.
