Oxfordshire tumbled to their second heavy defeat of the season in the Minor Counties Championship at Challow on Tuesday.

The home side crashed to a nine-wicket defeat by Cornwall, following on from a ten-wicket reverse away to Berkshire in their campaign opener.

Resuming on their overnight second-innings score of 14-1 - still 148 runs behind the visitors' first-day score of 408-9 - Oxfordshire were bowled out for 173.

Rob Williams was again the star man with the bat for Oxon.

The former skipper finished unbeaten again, making 92 to go with his first-innings knock of 74 not out.

The only other significant resistance came from Banbury new boy Richard Kaufman, who made 40 out of a 95-run fourth-wicket stand with Williams.

The last four wickets fell for two runs to Tom Sharp, who finished with 6-26.

Needing just 12 runs to win, Cornwall lost the wicket of Gary Thomas, who fell cheaply to Banbury paceman Simon Launder for the second time in the match.

The result means Oxfordshire have now lost all three of their competitive games this season, as they also went down to Dorset in a bowl-out in the MCCA Knockout earlier this month.
