A man who stopped to give a group of men directions was punched in the face and robbed.
The 19-year-old victim needed hospital treatment following the attack in Deddington, near Banbury, at about 2am on Tuesday.
He was walking along Horsefair when three men got out of an silver coloured car and asked the way to Adderbury.
One of the men then punched the victim in the face, hit him on the back and neck and knocked him to the ground.
They stole his wallet with £15 cash and cards. He was treated in hospital for head and face injuries and needed stitches.
All three men were wearing jeans and casual tops.
Witnesses should call Banbury CID on 01295 754575.
