North Oxford continue to march relentlessly towards a third successive Men's Division 1 title in the Wilson OLTA Inter-Club 3-Pair League.

And their task is being made even easier by the teams around them failing to put them under pressure.

North's 6-3 victory over Banbury West End saw them maintain their 100 per cent record at the top of the table.

But with all their rivals having lost at least two matches, North Oxford are red-hot favourites to retain their crown.

Oxford City look the most likely to push the defending champions all the way, after their narrow 5-4 victory over Oxford Sports.

City's first pair of Mike Millar and Shamus Donald produced a devastating performance, dropping just eight games on their way to a clean sweep of victories.

Sports trailed 4-2 going into the final round of matches, but Millar and Donald's 6-2, 6-0 victory over opposite numbers Alex Brown and Greg Wingham - who easily won their other two rubbers of the afternoon - secured victory.

City's other two pairs, Duncan Todd and Adrian Roberts at No 2, and third pair of Alistair Gillan and Richard Sutton, both claimed a rubber apiece.

Former leaders Witney slip to mid-table after a 6-3 defeat by Cholsey.

Cholsey's first pair of Phil Warr and Jon Merrifield completed a clean sweep of wins, with the other two pairs both chipping in with one and a half rubbers.

For Witney, Paul Valentine and David Hillyard claimed two rubbers, with the first pair of Richard Jones and Bruce Jobson winning two halves.

In Division 2, Bicester kept up their title bid, with a 7-2 victory over North Oxford C.

Rob Smith and Chris Laker were in fine form for Bicester, winning their three rubbers, while Paul Davey and Gustav Fritz, along with Justin Kelly and Neil Smith, picked up two apiece, at second and third pairs respectively.

Tim Cartwright and Sam Abbotts were the only North Oxford pair to put up a fight, winning one and a half rubbers, and losing 7-6, 6-4 to Cartwright and Abbotts in the other.

A final-round clean sweep saw resurgent Woodstock record a 6.5-2.5 victory over Banbury. Relegated from the top flight last year, Woodstock have really found their form.

Ben Coomber and Pramod Gujral enjoyed a clean sweep at first pair, with the third pair of Pete Westall and Paul Casey picking up two and a half rubbers.
