Thame United boss Andy Sinnott has described his decision to quit the Ryman League Division 1 North club as one of the saddest of his managerial career.

Sinnott, who had been boss at Windmill Stadium for six years, decided to call it a day after a row about the playing budget for next season.

He had threatened to quit as manager at the tailend of last season for the same reason.

However, he was persuaded to stay after he receiving assurances from chairman Jim Tite and the club's board.

Earlier this week, Sinnott, who last month was turned down for the manager's job at Premier side Aylesbury United, said he was "buzzing" about the forthcoming league campaign, but it seems a meeting with Tite on Thursday night was the final straw.

"It was a difficult decision, but I just didn't feel that the budget would be there for this year, he said.

"I have been working really hard over the last fortnight to ensure last season's squad stayed at the club.

"I can't take the players into the new season with that uncertainty hanging over the club. I'm obviously sad about it, because I had six successful years there."

"My reason for going is purely to do with the confidence I had in the club to deliver what had been agreed last season.

"I'm now going to have some time away from football."

Tite said:" I'm disappointed he has decided to go, but it wasn't totally unexpected."
