Paul Powell, who was released by Oxford United at the end of last season, is facing a tough decision on his future.
Paul PowellThe 25-year-old left back or left winger, who spent eight years at United as a trainee and professional, has a concrete offer on the table from a Conference club.
He has also been given the chance by Wrexham boss Denis Smith, his former manager at the Manor, to go to the Racecourse Ground for pre-season, to try to earn a contract.
And ex-United midfielder David Penney, boss of third division new boys Doncaster Rovers, has offered him a similar trial.
Powell has to weigh up whether to gamble on proving himself at a trial or accept the Conference club's offer.
Meanwhile, United boss Ian Atkins is hopeful of having a new No 2 in place within a matter of days.
