Oxford were shot out for just 47 - a club record lowest score in the league - as they crashed to a 186-run defeat against Basingstoke & North Hants in Division 1 at St Catherine's College, Marston on Saturday.
It was also very nearly a new low for the top flight - pipping the 46 made by Bletchley Town against Radlett in 2000.
And at 24-6, Oxford threatened the lowest score for the whole league of 33 by North Mymms against Stevenage in Division 2 East in the same year.
Charl Willoughby, who made his Test match debut for South Africa against Bangladesh in April and is due to play one more game for Basingstoke before joining up with the tourists, was the chief destroyer, taking 6-25.
He was well supported by Chas Chandler, with 4-17 as Oxford were blown away in the space of just 21 overs.
Six batsmen perished without scoring as Oxford had no answer to left-armer Willoughby's big inswingers and Chandler's away-swing bowling.
Earlier, Basingstoke had made 233-7 off their 66 overs after being put into bat, Ross Hunter leading the way with an unbeaten 60.
Off-spinner Adam Cook was back on form for Oxford with 4-71 from 22 overs, while skipper Rupert Evans picked up 1-38 from 20 overs.
