The race has started to find the Oxfordshire Business Woman of the Year.

Organisers say this year's prestigious competition promises to be bigger and better than ever with a new venue for the ceremony and 250 guests expected.

One of this year's judges will be Amanda Webb-Johnson, last year's winner, founder and director of Refuge Resource, which helps boost awareness of the skills available from refugees and asylum seekers.

Ms Webb-Johnson said: "The most significant part of winning was that it raised the profile of the organisation, created opportunities and also it was very rewarding personally."

The competition is run by the Oxfordshire Women's Forum, a special interest group of the Oxfordshire Chamber of Commerce.

Chairman Carol-Ann Saul said: "The Oxfordshire Woman of the Year is a progressive 21st century woman.

"She is able to demonstrate success in her chosen career and the ability to motivate and inspire others around her.

"We know there are lots of inspirational women out there who meet the criteria -- we just need them to come forward or friends or colleagues to nominate them."

Last year's event saw 11 finalists nominated and Ms Saul is confident of attracting even more this year. The 2003 award will be made at a gala dinner at the Oxfordshire Golf Club, Thame on November 27.
