Benson romped to a 4-0 whitewash over Oxford Sports B in Division 1 of the Mixed 2-Pair League - but with contrasting fortunes for their two pairs.

Things could not have been easier for their second pair of Gordon Tanner and Ali Bremner, who dropped just five games on their way to victory.

But Mike Kann and Liz Bowles were made to work a lot harder for their two victories.

After beating Michael and Suki Good 7-5, 6-4 in their opening rubber, Kann and Bowles were pushed all the way by Richard Berry and Sandie Frolich, before edging home 1-6, 7-6, 7-6.

There was joy for Sports' first string, however, who beat Abingdon 2.5-1.5.

Sports' first pair of Sue Stewart and Clare Horgan were unbeaten, with the husband and wife team of David and Caroline Hogben picking up the half.

In Division 2, Southfield beat Faringdon 3.5-.5, but were made to win two three-set deciders to clinch victory.

Terry Eccles and Jen Jones won their crucial rubber 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 over David Kimber and Tracey Collen, while Alan Lee and Heather Titcombe beat Andy Sawyer and Lin Ross 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
