Anyone with money to spare and a wish to become a Lord of the Manor is now in with a chance of making their delusion of grandeur come true.
Football fan and property developer Craig Feldman bought the Lordship of the Manor of West Challow, near Wantage, at auction two years ago.
Now he is advertising his new-found status for sale and inviting offers over £10,000.
The village over which he owns long-defunct manorial rights, onced owned by King Alfred, has a population of 200 people living in 60 houses just off the A417.
Mr Feldman, who lives in Cheshire, said: "The title dates back to before the Norman Conquest. I became Lord of the Manor because I am very interested in history.
"I thought it might be of more interest to someone living in Oxfordshire than to me."
The lordship, which does not entitle its owner to call himself a lord, dates back more than 1,000 years to Saxon times.
West Challow Parish Council chairman Ethel Lester said: "I never heard of the Lord of the Manor when I was a child growing up here. Then a Mr Cohen from London came and introduced himself as our Lord of the Manor.
He sold it on because he was ill and wanted to sort out his affairs.
"He used to come to our village fetes. He also gave us a clock for our village hall but unfortunately it was stolen."
