More work is planned to improve Caldecott Primary School in south Abingdon as part of a £1.5m extension and modernisation programme.
Oxfordshire County Council is seeking planning permission to extend the existing school by building a reception classroom for new foundation pupils aged between three and five, and for two language resource therapy rooms.
In addition it is planned to put up a separate single class block with a covered walkway and provide extra parking spaces.
Work on other parts of the scheme started earlier this year providing six new classrooms in what headteacher Margaret Gibb described as a major step towards providing the best learning facilities in the area.
The current school is divided into two buildings so the extension will mean that the school will be under one roof.
Part of the new area will be specially built for children aged between three and five.
The school project is part of a major redevelopment of the site.
A new £500,000 family centre is being built there and should be ready in the spring or early summer.
Part of the site will be sold for housing, with the money going towards concentrating the Kingfisher special needs school on a single site in Radley Road, Abingdon.
